Combine your active adventure with world-class accommodation, food and wine for an experience you will savour forever.

The Queenstown Trail now allows public access to unspoilt private land, traversing two mighty suspension bridges, crossing three iconic rivers and circumnavigating two lakes... all set in dramatic Lord of the Rings landscapes.

Accessible all year round and suitable for all abilities with trails ranging from easy to intermediate; the Queenstown Trail can be enjoyed by everyone.

Come for an hour, a day or stay for four – bring your friends and family and discover a whole new side to Queenstown.

TIP: IT’S ALL UPHILL FROM QUEENSTOWN SO FOR AN EASIER RIDE, START FROM ARROWTOWN OR GIBBSTON. (TRANSPORT TO ARROWTOWN READILY AVAILABLE)

Lake Wakatipu Ride
If you feel like a couple of hours in the fresh Queenstown air then this trail is for you! It’s a relatively flat and easy ride or long-ish walk with wide trails designed for walkers and riders to share. It’s ideal for families with young children or those of us who are relative strangers to cycling!

Begin at the Queenstown Gardens entrance and follow the signposts all the way along the lakefront. Stop for coffee at the Boatshed, Frankton Marina then follow the signs to the historic one-lane Kawarau Falls bridge. This is where Lake Wakatipu flows into the mighty Kawarau River. A great photo spot.
