This mature garden of 19 hectares was established in 1864. It is open 365 days a year from 8am until dusk, with vehicle access from Queen Street. Displaying over 30 individual plant collections and an arboretum, the gardens showcase an extensive range of species including threatened plants.
Children's favourites are the playground and ducks on the two ponds. Several interesting structures are nestled into the gently undulating topography. Highlights are the Graeme Paterson Conservatory, which is open daily, and the Education Centre. This is open on Wednesday from 2pm - 4pm or by arrangement.
