Matahua Cottages, Miro and Karaka, are two self-contained waterfront cottages situated on the shore of the beautiful Waimea Inlet, near Mapua village.

Located in the heart of the Tasman region, surrounded by the vineyards of Nelson's wine country, the accommodation at Matahua Cottages makes an ideal base for day trips around the Nelson region to the Abel Tasman, Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes National Parks.

The cottages are part of our 5 acre organic permaculture property, a mix of fruit trees, vineyard, gardens, and regenerating native New Zealand bush which stretches around the estuary shore. Nelson's Waimea Inlet is famous for its wading and migratory birds: pied stilts, oyster-catchers, bar tailed godwits, herons, royal spoonbills and more can be seen from the decks and gardens of both cottages.
