What do you do when you realise you are Addicted to dumplings?
For us, the regular visits to Auckland's dumpling joints on Dominion road and the frozen stockpile at home for the 3am cravings just weren't enough. Our delicious obsession drove us to create the best dumplings this country has ever had. Our hunt for the recipe for the perfect dumpling took us to Michelin Star Din Tai Fung. Then we found our own dumpling master who had run a dumpling bar in Shanghai for 30 years (think Mr Miyagi from Karate Kid but Chinese and wearing an apron). With these key ingredients Pot Sticker Dumpling Bar was born and like any good Christchurch boy, Sam headed home to share our obsession with our family and friends.
Pot Sticker is the street name for pan-fried dumplings, although at Pot Sticker Dumpling bar you can also have your dumplings steamed. What you won’t get are dumplings from a machine. Everything is handmade with the same obsession to detail that set us off on our crazy dumpling fueled adventure. The dumpling master hand-makes the dumpling skins, chops all the locally sourced vegetables and herbs and selects the free-range meat on a daily basis. We still obsess over dumplings day and night the difference is now we're doing it behind the glass wall at Pot Sticker under the watchful eye of the dumpling master. There you can watch us experimenting with new flavours as we continue our quest to serve Cantabrians the best dumplings in the land.
Head to Pot Sticker and find out what all the fuss is about, but be warned, our dumplings are addictive.
We're open everyday 9.30am til 5.00pm
