Enjoy the beautiful setting and discover the place where Kaikoura began. Rich in human history the first people, ancestors of today's Maori, hunted the moa, fished and grew kumara in this area. Built on whale bones, this is the town's oldest surviving building, a link to our whaling past and stands today little altered by the three families that have lived here.
