Bay Motel has been owned and operated by Jenny Twaddle since 2008. Absolute comfort and enjoyment is our priority for all staying at the Bay Motel and on Stewart Island.
South African born Jenny spent many years as financial manager of a large retail outlet in Johannesburg where "customer service" training was an important requirement. Together with Brett, a local building contractor, they settled on Stewart Island to enjoy the wonderful lifestyle and great community. Sadly, Brett passed away in 2013.
Bay Motel has been managed by Charlotte Bates since September 2013. She has already proven herself an asset to the motels and brings a fresh breeze of energy and enthusiasm into work with her every day. Raised on a dairy farm just south of Christchurch, Charlotte and her partner, Sam, and their dog Lady have lived on Stewart Island since 2011, joining their extended family that have lived here for decades.
Charlotte is always willing to help guests in any way she can, answer questions and book activities to make your stay on Stewart Island as enjoyable as possible.
