Kiki Beware Cafe

Location: New Zealand / South Island / Dunedin

Kiki Beware is located in a heritage listed group of buildings in Edinburgh Way, George St, amongst other great cafes and high fashion stores such as Carlson, Plume, Ruby, and Slick Willy’s.
When asked how she would describe her business, owner Mel Norman explains that Kiki Beware has a modern take on the traditional tearooms we all love, always lots going on accompanied by delicious food and drinks!
Seeing this quirky, cheeky environment, I could not have put it any better than that.
This place is fresh, it’s interactive and fun. Showcased on the walls are works by talented, well known Dunedin artists. When the customers sit on the retro stools at the very long bar they have a very different dining experience, they can see what the staff in action, chat to them while they make coffee, cold drinks, cook, the lot!
The cuisine is a modern take on the traditional tearooms and diner experience. Lots of great coffee, classic homemade baking, cheese rolls, breakfasts, sandwiches, milkshakes, spiders, and soda streams in intriguing flavours!
Some of the must try dishes would have to be Vietnamese BBQ Pork Baguette; a crispy baguette filled with Char Siu BBQ Pork, mesclun, carrot, pickled ginger, topped with coriander & lashings of sweet chilli sauce & mayo! Yum! Also try the Green Eggs; poached eggs on ciabatta, with mesclun, salted capers, topped with fried haloumi and lots of Hollandaise. You can even have Green Eggs & Ham, which is the above but with ham off the bone!
Kiki Beware is the ideal spot for breakfast, lunch or coffee in fresh, new surroundings. My advice is to head down and check it out for yourself!
