We are thrilled that we have been published in the latest Publication of "Lonely Planet".

Sails Motel is a Boutique Motel with a personal touch and steeped in history. Originally known for building boats and named the 'Boatshed', it eventually became known as the Esplanade Motel. It changed it's name 5 years ago to Sails Motel.

Sails Motel is owned and managed by Deb and Ted.

Deb has been in the hospitallity industry for 28 years working as a flight attendant for Air New Zealand. Being with Air New Zealand for that period of time Deb saw many changes with our national carrier.

Deb met her wonderful Husband Ted while working at Air New Zealand where he worked as an engineer. Ted has been retired since 1989 and with Deb deciding to change careers it gave Ted the opportunity to help manage the Motel and work together.

With the years of experience in the service and hospitallity industry Deb and Ted will ensure your stay with them is as comfortable as possible and you will always get a warm welcome and a personal touch.

Sails Motel is located just 50 metres from the beach and a 5 min walk to the town centre, where there are an abundance of cafes and restaurants, and all the tourist activities. It is also located across the road from the beach but is set back from the road so it is very quiet. It has a lovely garden setting.
